On yearly billing, one extra person takes the bill from $1,080 to $2,508 a year, the bold row above.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"members-vs-viewers\">Members vs viewers: the rule that drives your bill<\/h2>\n<p>Only members, the paid seats, can create, edit and delete. Viewers, which Smartsheet calls contributors, can view and comment. On paper that makes viewers free. In practice, people outside the core team often need to change one status cell or add a date.<\/p>\n<p>When a viewer edits a shared item, Smartsheet can mark them as a provisional member. That is where most surprise bills start. It happens in three steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>A viewer edits something they don\u2019t own<\/strong> and becomes a provisional member.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Before each billing date, an admin is asked to confirm or remove provisional members.<\/strong> Yearly plans are reviewed every quarter; monthly plans every month.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anyone not reviewed becomes a paid member<\/strong> and appears on the next invoice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If your bill went up and nobody added seats on purpose, look here first. Third-party pricing reviews list Dynamic View from about $125 a month and Data Shuttle at about $100 a month.
